“Petals: Journey Into Self-Discovery” (2007)

This documentary follows the journey of photographer Nick Karras in producing his artistic book 'Petals', about the beauty of female anatomy, examining the many unspoken beliefs and myths that affect women's sexual self-esteem. The movie records the reactions of sex educators, women's health professionals, art critics, female participants in the project, as well as the man/woman-in-the-street as they confront the mystery of womanhood.

Join us for our second year of radically inclusive documentary films about positive sexuality. Originally created and curated by Clarisse Thorn, the 2010 series is curated by a diverse committee of SEX+++ attendees including activists, sex workers, scholars, and kinksters. SWOP-Chicago is pleased to announce that our October workshop will be a self-defense workshop for sex workers and other kinky people with Kevin Sogor of International Hapkido USA. This introductory course will teach some basic self defense techniques specifically designed for the adult industry professional who may find themselves in compromising positions or unique situations they must escape from. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing they would normally work or play in, such as high heels, skirts, corsets, etc., while taking the class. Open to all genders.
