Dear Asshole...

I broke a vow. I made a promise to myself to never read anonymous responses (with one notable exception), especially at Renegade Evolution's blog, because more often than not, they're spineless little cowards who piss me off with their thoughtless words. But noooo, I just HAD to go and read this one, boiling my blood and weighing on my mind all through art history class. So I'm on a little break now between classes so I can get this off my chest, because it really doesn't need any more weight.

While Ren's blog attracts a lion's share of wankers, I wanted to address this one in full because it is SO TYPICAL of certain people. This response is from this particular anonymous troll but really, it should be taken as a general cussin' out of other trolls who have posted the same garbage on any sex worker blog. I'm going to be taking this apart piece by piece. And yes, I know Ren does not need people to defend her because Goddess knows she does a hell of a job herself. BUT, Ren is my friend and the fierce lioness that I am, when someone attacks one of my friends, they attack me too.

Is that a crime? Almost everything in the world is something someone else can't afford. The inklings of entitlement are rearing their ugly head here. It's more like, "I can't afford you", if you're male or "I can't look or be like you", if you're female. Whichever it is, that flavor of Haterade must be tasty. However, I'm guess you fit into the demographic of a heterosexual male, white, 25-45, middle-class and a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas.

Wow! You jumped right into that class war, didn't you? Poorer than Ren? Ren isn't poor. I'm sure what you meant to say is, charge a lower rate. But here is where your classism shows, why is charging a lower rate equal to being more desperate and helpless? Also, why do you assume that a 'john' would automatically want a "desperate" and "helpless" woman because they can't afford whatever you think Ren charges for whatever services you think she renders? Ah, yes, here is entitlement in all its shitty glory. This sentence smacks of the john/client/customer who feels that whatever sex worker he wants he should have access to, because that's the line he's been fed by, I dunno, media, hobbyist boards whatever. This is the client who doesn't like the very rude awakening that he DOES NOT DICTATE PRICE!

'Who the hell does she think she is' they complain. She is what you want and cannot have outside of her explicit permission. That is who she is. You ass. If you happen to be a woman, then I'm guess you are one of those rad fems that is often bitched about within our circles who has a not-so-thinly veiled misogyny. Either way, your attitude sucks.

And, "do it to them"? Have sex? What is this mysterious 'it' you're referring to? Considering your nasty attitude and the one you're projecting on all johns (when really, you're just talking about your personal experiences and frustrations and trying to make a generalization out of it), I'm guess that 'it' is nothing nice. With that in mind, you apparently think some women, sex worker or not, are beneath your consideration and basic human respect; you unabashedly displayed this in your post.

Though you're trying to make it sound as though you are attacking the 'privileged' classes, what you have actually done is show your contempt for the very class of people you are supposedly defending. I have known a few men who like women who 'charge less' than Ren for a variety of reasons but those men also have class, tact and basic respect for humanity. Just the assumption that women who don't charge hundreds or thousands per hour for their services are somehow desperate and poor is incredibly offensive. You've got a lot of nerve.

And yes, there are certainly women in the trade who fit that description. Arresting, imprisoning and harassing does nothing to help them leave the realm of poverty and desperation. When they can't find a mainstream job in order to leave the life that does not fit them, how is an arrest record for prostitution going to help that? Please, explain. Or are you naive enough to think that the claim on job applications that arrest records won't be held against the applicant is actually true?

No, YOU don't care if they're into or not. You are, again, making generalizations. This is you. YOU do not have any respect for those women.

And there are many things you do in a day, perfectly legal and freely chosen, that another person would not want to do, ever. Do you work in an office cubicle? Guess what? That is MY personal hell. Furthermore, you need to acquaint yourself with the definition of criminalization as well as its antonym, decriminalization. Decriminalization would most certainly change that, but I have the very strong suspicion that you probably don't want it to change. I've already pegged you, judging by your attitude in the response, that you are not the type of john any prostitute or escort wants to meet. You're angry and frustrated and all this stems from the lie you have been and continue to be fed, that somehow you are entitled to sex with the woman of your choice with no input from her. Get. Over. It.

Now that I've ripped you a new asshole, you now have two places to stick your attitude where the sun don't shine.
